Convex Lenses work on the principle of refraction that helps in bending the rays of light passing through it. They are thick across the center and thin at the edges. 1. Magnifying Objects

3. Creating Images

A real image is formed when an object is beyond the focal point of the lens. A virtual image is formed when the object is closer to the lens than the focal point.

4. Generating Heat

In addition to visible light, the sun emits infrared radiation (heat). This heat can be concentrated on a small area using a convex lens. This can cause the paper to catch fire, which can be useful in survival situations. The way that a convex lens works is by bending and converging light rays that pass through it. The rays of light that enter the lens are refracted by its shape and are drawn toward a point, which is called the focal point.

5. Focusing Light

A convex lens, like a magnifying glass, can be used to focus light. When an object is placed at the optimal distance from a convex lens, it creates a real or virtual image. If the object is farther from the lens than its focal point, a real image will be formed. This image will be inverted when compared to the actual object.

However, if the object is closer to the lens than its focal point, a virtual image will be formed. This image will be upright, but smaller than the original object. This type of image is seen on a mirror, and it’s also known as a comet-shaped image. The human eye’s natural lens is another example of a convex lens that creates virtual images.
